Measuring Refined 9999 Gold!

Up till now refiners used fire assay, X-Ray analysis and ICP to check the gold concentrations in refining lots of precious metals.
When refining to 99.99%, only ICP was good enough to measure the result.
The ICP equipment is a sophisticated high precision instrument, used to deter-mine all precious metals content in refining lots to parts-per-million levels. Ex-tremely small traces of metals can be detected using this equipment. The gold concentration is then calculated by difference.

ICP however is an expensive equipment, that needs a well-trained operator to handle the time-consuming tests.
